Do you like meat?  Well this might be a offensive question to the vegeterian but this question is for those non vegeterian? Meat a   very popuar item served as a food in almost all over the world. The world is very much dependent on meat these days. A study shows the most served food in any restaurant ( excluding vegeterian restaurant) consist of meat. Some of us might be great fan of meat too. There are some people whom we know who cannot eat food without meat. Meat is a complusory item for some people meal. If a guest is approaching for a dinner or lunch the main dish for the meal will be Meat. Fried, Gravy,Roast,Bolied, Sekuwa etc etc which one is your  favourite?

Well  if meat is considered for a meal in nepalese then there comes a confusion between  chicken mutton buff or pork ? Well Buff has been a popular meat in momo in kathmandu and other places. There are 5.14 million live buffaloes in the country at present, according to the ministry estimates. After buff, data show, mutton stands the second most sought after meat item. Mutton accounts for 20 percent of the country’s meat demand. Production of mutton has been projected to grow 6.25 percent to 59.05 million kg this fiscal. But here we talk about mutton . oh not really mutton but the rearing of mutton meat. An open oppurtunity for the new entrepreneur in mutton rearing in Nepal.

Well mutton is famous in Nepal. The demands of mutton are very high during the great festival of Nepal Dashain. There is huge import of goats from india and other countries during dashain .A study shows that   Nepal imports goat equialent of 17 arab nepali rupees anually. And if we can  decrease the import from our business then its sure we wiill be  a well successful business

Have you ever heard of a goat of 140 kg or more? yeah you read it right. A goat of 140 kg. Is not it amazing. There exist a breed of goat named Boer goat that is around 140 kg and its rearing is possible in Nepal.Average body weight of the mature boer bucks is between 110 and 150 kg. In the context of Nepal Boer goat farming is new. There are few companies who have started the boer goat farming . But this can be a great opportunity for the new entreprenuer with incorparting with the technology. Boer goats are  eyed for its fast growing nature. Different information regarding boer goat states that about the weight of the goat can be increased upto 300 to 400 grams per days . For a local breed of goat there is increased of  around 7-8 kg of meat montly but if we go for boer then it caan be increased upto 20 kg per month.  A farmer in Nepal states that he has a boer goat of about 156 kg .

The initial investment in the farming can be little higher for the  Nepali farmer. But once the start up is done than there is no looking back for the loss. Life can be easily lifted and if we anallysis the market then nobody would say meat wont be sold in Nepal.Boer goat farming business is similar to riasing other common goats. Only the difference we find is thee boer goat have fast growing ration and they require a bit special caring.

Another advantange point for boer farming  is that ‘these goats have very fast growth rate and they reach slaughtering size much faster’. The meat of these goats is of very good taste and also very nutritious. The boer goats have a very high fertility rate as compared to many other common goat breeds which are used for commercial goat farming business. And these goats are very suitable for commercial meat production purpose.

In the today context the normal price of boer breed goat is about 3-5 lakh nepalese rupees. We can even cross the  boer goat with the local goats. Study shows the fertility rate of boer goat is good and they are considered as excellent breeders.Boer goats require same food as other common goats but since they have faster growth rate so nutritious food are to be provided.

So if we look at the demand of meat and import of goats forr meat in Nepal then  we can cleary say boer goat farming is the best business for this. The agriculture of Nepal can be well flourised in terms of business. With a little investment we can do much better in agriculture sector. But the youth are focused for the foreign emplyment but look at the country you will find more opportunities here. You can really do something here in our own country.
